CDA Fire Station 3
This 8,500 square foot station was constructed to provide fire protection for the Northeast side of Coeur d’Alene. The city requested the design incorporate traditional firehouse elements while still appearing like a natural extension of the existing residential neighborhood. The station achieves its firehouse aesthetic through hip roofs, shingle siding, composition shingle roofing, and a brick veneer wainscot.
Inside the station, there is a 4-bay apparatus room, a 30 person meeting room, 3 double sleeping rooms, a single sleeping room, an exercise room, day room, offices, turn-out gear storage, and a decontamination room. The decontamination room protects the facility from the hazardous debris and materials encountered while firefighting, and as such, features an outside entrance into the station. In addition, this station also contains a generator for emergency power, a fire sprinkler system, a gas-fire radiant heat system for the apparatus room, and a vehicle exhaust system.
