CDA Fire Station 4
The City of Coeur d’Alene had been experiencing rapid growth for several years in the northwest quadrant of the city. This was having a negative effect on emergency response times for the fire department. To alleviate this issue, the City of Coeur d’Alene decided to build a new fire station on Atlas Road to serve this area. LTA was selected to design the new fire station based upon our past history of working with the fire department. Fire Station No. 3 (designed by LTA 15 years ago) was the basis of design for Station No. 4. The new fire station was reduced by approximately 7,000 SF from 8,000 SF by making the meeting room smaller, reducing the size of the apparatus bay, deleting the decontamination room, and eliminating the upper level mechanical and storage areas. The new fire station incorporates a drive-thru four-vehicle apparatus bay, sleeping quarters for seven fire personnel, a day room, kitchen, meeting room, restrooms, exercise room, offices, and storage areas. A covered patio provides an outdoor seating area and protection for the barbeque. The exterior design of the station is residential in nature so that it blends into the fabric of the surrounding residential neighborhoods.
