CDA Fire Station Admin Building
The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department Headquarters and Administration building was designed to blend into the residential neighborhood that surrounds it. For the new building, the City wanted to keep with the same design character that was incorporated into Station No. 3, No. 1, and later, No. 4. All of the stations reflect the same design character by using a similar style of brick wainscoting, shingle siding, and composition shingle roofing.
The new building houses the department’s administrative offices, fire department library, conference room, and museum. The museum space continues to be the most exciting element of the headquarters building. As citizens cruise into downtown from Third Street, they can preview the museum by seeing the antique La France fire engine on display behind the two large exterior windows. Once inside, visitors can view historical firefighting equipment and photos documenting the history of the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department.
