Lakes Middle School
With the deteriorating condition and crowded halls of Lakes Middle School, the Coeur d’Alene School District realized that a remodel was necessary to modernize the school and improve the teaching and learning capabilities of both the faculty and students. As such, this project was a major remodel to the 81,000 square foot 1952 building, with 80% of the interior being demolished. With a near clean slate, we were able to install all new interior finishes, a new energy efficient heat pump/HVAC system to replace the old boiler and radiators, a new electrical system, a new plumbing system, fire sprinklers, technology, new roofing, new insulation, replace all the single pane windows, repaint the entire building, and asbestos abatement.
Because Lakes Middle School is an active facility, the School District desired a condensed timeline to reduce disruptions for the students while in school. With that caveat in mind, this project was completed from the day we were contracted to the final occupation in eight months. Many of our competitors indicated this remodel would take upwards of two years to complete, but LTA was able to meet the School District’s tight schedule while also remaining under budget too.
